Welcome to Prairie Winds Middle School!
I am excited to welcome you to Prairie Winds Middle School! Our mission is to assure learning excellence and readiness for a changing world.
I believe that more than anything, education has the potential to enrich a person’s quality of life and am proud to be an educator. It is my privilege to ensure every student has access to an equitable education and the opportunity to achieve their very best. I’ve always thought of school as an exciting place and feel extremely lucky to continue my journey in education at Prairie Winds.
I have been an educator in the Mankato Schools and my husband and I have lived in Mankato since I taught Social Studies at Mankato East High School in the mid-nineties. I have three children who all graduated from the Mankato Schools. They are continuing their educations by attending college. One is at North Dakota State, one at Augustana University, and the last at the University of Wisconsin - Stout.
I am honored to be part of the Prairie Winds community and look forward to partnering with families in supporting the journey our students take toward growth and development.
I am grateful to serve as Assistant Principal at Prairie Winds Middle School. I believe that all students have the potential for greatness and it is our job as educators to cultivate that greatness. Middle school is an exciting time to for students. Each year students will transition and grow academically, emotionally, and socially. They will acquire new skills that will enhance their ability to apply their learning. We are committed to providing a challenging and rigorous learning environment that fosters collaboration and individual growth.
I have been an educator for 15 years and have taught elementary and middle school students in Rochester, MN and Burnsville, MN. I served as the Dean of Students at PWMS for two years prior to becoming the Assistant Principal. I have three children, including two middle schoolers and am married to a middle school teacher.
It is my honor to serve as the Dean of Students at Prairie Winds Middle School. Our mission is to celebrate student's individual talents and invite them to become a part of a community that will embrace them for who they are. We seek to build solid relationships between students, staff and community. We believe that this partnership fosters the cooperation needed to grow students to their full potential.
Prior to coming ot Prairie Winds Middle School, I was a classroom teacher for sixteen years. I taught second grade for fourteen years, one year as a math and reading intervention teacher in the Belle Plaine School District. I joined the Mankato School District last year as a Kindergarten Teacher at Washington Elementary School. I am excited to make the transition to Middle School.
I have three children in the Mankato School District system; a son in high school, a daughter in middle school and a son in elementary school. We as a family feel invested in this community and I look forward to building a relationship with you and your child this school year.
